Job Description
This position offers an attractive salary ranging from R 242 475 to R 285 630 per year. The qualified applicant will also be required to sign a performance agreement. In order to be eligible for the job, all interested candidates must possess at least a Grade 12 certificate and an LLB qualification. Alternatively, those who do not hold the previous qualifications can still apply provided they have at least 20 modules completed towards an LLB. Having a BCom or BA in Law will serve as an added advantage and please attach results within your application.
The Judges Secretary vacancy at Durban High Court also requires candidates to have one to three years of secretarial experience or Office Assistant along with a valid driver’s license.

- Be responsible for typing or formatting draft memorandum decisions, judgement or opinions written by assigned judge
- Be responsible for providing general administrative or secretarial duties to the judge
- Be responsible for typing and managing judgements, correspondence and orders for the judge
- Be responsible for diarising and arranging appointments and meetings for official visits and making accommodation as well as travel arrangements
- Safeguarding of all case files and the endorsement documents to the registrar
- Be responsible for performing digital recording of court proceedings on urgent court cases after hours and making sure there is integrity of such recordings
- Be responsible for keeping, storing and filing court records safely
- Be responsible for accompanying the Judge to the Courts
- Be responsible for managing Judge’s vehicle, driving and logbook thereof
- Be responsible for compiling data and preparing reports and documents for assigned judge when needed
- Be responsible for arranging receptions for the judge and her or his visitors and attending to their needs
- Be responsible for managing judge’s library and updating documents
- Be responsible for executing legal research as directed by the judge
- Be responsible for complying with departmental policies, prescripts, guidelines and procedures
