South African students who find themselves in financial need and cannot pay for their tertiary studies are encouraged to apply for the SANZAF Zakah bursary program 2019. Current matric students or current tertiary students who were sponsored by either a family member/themselves or even SANZAF last year can apply.
Bursary Description
SANZAF is short for the South African National Zakah Fund. It is an educational, faith-based and socio-welfare organisation that gather and distribute Sadaqat and Zakah to assist the Muslim community. The organisation has been continuously assisting the needy and poor families for over 43 years, helping with the upliftment and empowerment of the community.
The SANZAF Zakah bursary program 2019 is a grant that is targeted at students who are in financial need and cannot fulfil financial obligations for their tertiary studies. Shortlisted applicants will be notified and invited to attend an interview. Kindly note that applicants will be required to settle their registration costs independently.
Entry criteria
- Must be South African citizen or foreign nationals with a study permit
- Must be Western cape residents
- Must have proven financial need
- Must be from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
- Must plan to study or be studying at a University, Technikon or University of Technology anywhere in South Africa
Students must also fall within one of the following categories:
- Current tertiary students studying at a tertiary institution who were sponsored either by SANZAF or a family member or themselves last year
- Current matric students
