Job Information

Qualified candidate will receive a level four salary which amounts to R 136 800 annually. In order to be eligible for the position, all candidates are required to be in possession of at least Grade 10 certificate or any of its equivalent qualifications. Furthermore, it is also required that applicants be in possession of at least three years of relevant working experience. Having a valid unendorsed code EC1 or EC driving license along with a Professional Driver’s Permit is also compulsory.

Experience in concrete works essential and carpentry would serve as a recommendation for the position. Candidates must also be willing to travel on a regular basis.

Other inherent requirements needed for the Road Worker Supervisor vacancy at Department of Transport and Public Works are as follows:

  • Communication skills in two or three official languages of the Western Cape

Once you are qualified for the position, below are some of the job duties you will be involved in:

  • Responsible for supervising the building and maintenance of roads
  • Responsible for inspecting work, supervising and training workers
  • Responsible for maintaining and handling machines and aids which are used for road maintenance work and construction work
  • Responsible for supervising and planning construction and maintenance of roads, buildings and premises
  • Responsible for repairing equipment to and in buildings, roads and premises
  • Responsible for undertaking the safeguarding of work areas and construction machines in terms of the Health and Safety Act
  • Responsible for disciplining subordinates and applying proper labour relations
