South African students who are in need of funding to pursue their diploma, undergraduate or even postgraduate studies in Agriculture can now apply for the Potato Industry Development Trust Bursary Program 2019. The bursary will also provide qualified students to take part in a workplace and internship experience to enhance their skills.

Potatoes South Africa aims to promote, serve and protect the interests of the South African potato industry. In 2004, the company established the Potato Industry Development Trust as a way to provide assistance to students with high potential to have access in pursuing tertiary study in the agricultural fields. This bursary goal is to make sure the continuance of skilled employees into the countries potato industry.
The Potato Industry Development Trust Bursary Program 2019 is open to South African students who wish to pursue their diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Agriculture sector. Qualified applicants will also have the chance to undergo an internship program and gain experience to enhance their skills as well as secure employment opportunities.
Upon graduation, students will also be required to work for an organisation, institution or a company related to potato industry for the same amount of time that they received the bursary.

Suitability
Diploma and undergraduate applicants:
- Be a South African citizen
- Must have strong academic records
- Must have completed matric
- Must be studying (2nd year of study) or intend on studying towards an agriculture qualification at a recognised tertiary institution in SA
Postgraduate applicants:
- Be a South African citizen
- Must have completed matric
- Must have strong academic records
- Must be studying at a recognised tertiary institution in SA towards agriculture qualification (master’s/honours/PhD)
- Students who are interested in pursuing research in a potato related field will be given preference

Along with the application form, you must also submit clear copies of the following documents:
- Certified copy of ID and qualification certificates
- Latest academic records/transcripts
- Admission letter from university/tertiary institution
- Any additional documents that may be relevant
For postgraduate applicants, please include additional documents stated below:
- Full length colour photograph
- Progress report or letter of recommendation from a supervisor
