All the positions require candidates to have at least a Grade 10 certificate or its equivalent in order to be eligible along with a completed apprenticeship. Below are the more specified requirements for each position. All successful applicants will be stationed in Pretoria. Don’t forget to quote the reference number for the Artisan Foreman vacancies at Government Printing Works on the application form. A Grade 12 qualification is an added advantage for all positions.

Mechanised Binding and Special Products (Ref. No. GPW 18/64b)

Salary: R 286 500 annually

Qualifications: passed trade test certificate in craft or mechanised binding and 5 years of post-qualification experience

Candidates must possess the following job related knowledge and attributes:

  • Good knowledge of folding, binding and cutting equipment processes
  • Quantity conscious
  • Good interpersonal relations
  • Good organising and planning skills

If you are qualified, below are the duties you will be involved in:

  • Supervise the mechanised binding as well as finishing of printed matter
  • Make sure quality standards are implemented optimally
  • Allocate tasks to artisans
  • Make sure production of information is reconciled daily
  • Be responsible for supervision as well as staff management

Specialised Production (WEB-FED: CONCEPTA) (Ref. No. GPW 18/65)

Salary: R 269 931 annually

Qualifications: passed trade test in in Lithography or Continuous Stationary Machine Minding along with 5 years of post-qualification experience

Candidates must possess the following job related knowledge and attributes:

  • Knowledge of computerised printing presses
  • Quality conscious
  • Good computer ability
  • Good organising and planning skills
  • Willingness to work shifts

Below are the key performance areas you will be involved in if you are qualified:

  • Be responsible for operating an automated nine colour web-fed offset printing machine with specialised finishing equipment such as folder, sheeter, web deliver unit and numbering unit
  • Adjust and set up rollers and cylinders
  • Load paper reels on machine
  • Be responsible for quality uniformity of print, correct delivery of the end product and colour densities
  • Check registration
  • Train artisans, learners and printer assistants
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety rules as well as procedures
