The National Economic Education Trust aims to help disadvantaged students who otherwise couldn’t be able to fund their studies without the bursary. The National Economic Education Trust (NEET) bursary program 2019 is a good opportunity for you if you have difficulties fulfilling financial obligations to pursue tertiary education. The program also provides constant support throughout your studies and later help you in finding job placements or internship.
Overview
The National Economic Education Trust was established in the early 1990s as an education support system for all disadvantaged students. This non-profit organisation focuses on students who excel in Maths and Science.
NEET started with a government grant worth R 30 million. Over two decades later, up to R 44 million has been distributed in financial support and bursaries to over 5000 students in South Africa. Aside from the bursary, NEET also offers constant support for the students by way of the online Student Management portal along with providing internship programs and job placements upon students’ completion of their studies.
The National Economic Education Trust (NEET) bursary program 2019 will be awarded to students who are studying:
- Technology
- Science
- Agricultural Training and Development
- Accounting
The bursary consists of financial support for stationery and prescribed textbooks as well as continuous mentoring and monitoring to ensure that students will reach their full potential. The program is primarily focused on students who wish to study in areas of science, accounting, technology and closely related fields, for these are the sectors where skills are scarce.
Note that the monthly fee contribution of R 120 is payable for capturing candidates’ information on the Student Management portal.
