About the Apprenticeship Program
The Motor Retail Barloworld Apprenticeship program is designed as an apprentice training within the motor industry. Barloworld Motor Retail Academy understands that it takes a special skill to be a professional and skilled worker in motor retail industry. To address the skills shortage and lack of professional work force, they are offering this program as a part of merSETA program. It is considered an accredited apprentice training options for both the external companies as well as the staff of Barloworld Motor Retail.
The company is offering two major programs with different focuses:
Diesel Mechanic – which is time-based by it is set to follow the CBMT (Competency Based Modular Training) curriculum
Apprentice Motor Mechanic Training – which is set as the CBMT program
Be advised that each of the programs will consist of different levels and different training scope. For instance, Motor Mechanic Level 1 will get training in identifying locking devices, getting the knowledge about safety and first aid in workshops, and identifying motor vehicle components. In Level 2, they will learn about studying technology fundamentals, fuse materials, and servicing complete motor vehicle.

The Requirements
All apprenticeship programs require a standard measurement of skills and qualifications and this Motor Retail Barloworld Apprenticeship program isn’t different. There are some basic and general requirements that candidates need to meet, such as:
- They are the citizens of South Africa – proven by a valid ID document
- They must have completed Grade 12 and have the certificate
- They must have at least N3 qualification in 4 subjects
- They must get at least 50% or higher in Mathematics
- They must get at least 50% or higher in Science
- They must have level 4 NCV qualification or higher
- Preferences would be given to candidates having Code B driver’s license
