KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environment Affairs is holding an internship project for 2020 period, known as KZN Department of Economic Development Internship program. If you have the passion in tourism as well as economy and you want to gain professional exposure to the work setting, then this is your chance. About the Program
The KZN Department of Economic Development Internship program is offered in many subjects, and each of them has their own standards requirements. All the candidates would be stationed in KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Depending on the departments or subjects that they choose, they will have their own tasks, responsibilities, and duties. The program is open for the Tourism unemployed graduates as well as students in need of in-service training.
The program is designed to provide the workplace (and the experience) for the potential candidates. The department is working together with different organizations as well as municipalities. Preferences would be given to those whose age is between 18 and 35 years. The program will run for 24 months (2 years).
There are different municipalities involved in the program. For instance, uMkhanyakude District Municipality consists of Jozini Local Municipality, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, Big Five Hlabisa Local Municipality, and so much more. Candidates can check the complete information at this link.
How to Apply
It is crucial that interested candidates apply to the municipalities in their residential region. They must also realize that some Tourism Offices require the candidates to work overtime and to work during public holidays, weekends, and in shifts.
Candidates must download the placement form (NOT the Z83) from this link. They can also get it from Tourism Offices in 217 Burger Street in Pietermaritzburg as well as the municipal offices taking part in the program. Candidates can also check the website www.kznedtea.gov.za. Candidates must clearly state the placement’s reference number on the form.
Requirements for Unemployed Graduates
When candidates send their application, they need to state the reference number and the area (where they apply for). It is crucial that the application form is accompanied by crucial supporting documents, such as a certified copy of Matric certificate, a copy of an updated CV, a certified copy of ID document, proof of residency that is taken from each candidate’s Local Municipality, and certified copies of qualifications, including the academic transcripts. The qualifications are 3-year Diploma or Degree in Travel and Tourism and Tourism Management or the equivalent qualification of Tourism and Hospitality.
