ISFAP Bursary: The Program for Financially Struggling Students

ISFAP Bursary is a program that is designed to help students to achieve their dream in getting the education they want without having to worry about the financial standing. The financial assistance is meant to help students who are struggling financially to get the higher degree they want. There are several programs and guidance that is laid out by the organization – and these regulations must be met by the candidates.

About ISFAP and the Program

ISFAP or Ikusa Student Financial Aid Program was set up to help the financially struggling students (from poor and middle income) to continue their study to a tertiary institution and afford the fees. They get contributions and donors from public and private sector, such as Discovery, Sasol, Standard Bank, Sappi, Volkswagen, Woolworths, and others.

There are several universities or tertiary institutions that have been awarded by ISFAP Bursary. They are:

  • University of Johannesburg
  • University of Pretoria
  • University of the Witwatersrand
  • University of Cape Town
  • University of the Free State
  • University of Venda
  • Stellenbosch University
  • Central University of Technology
  • Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University
  • University of KwaZulu-Natal
  • Nelson Mandela University
  • Tshwane University of Technology
  • Walter Sisulu University
  • University of Limpopo
  • North West University

However, not all subjects are covered by this bursary. Each of these universities has their own subjected fields to be qualified for the bursary. For instance, only candidates who are taking Accounting (BCom), Mathematical Sciences (BSc), Construction Management (BSc), or Retail Business Management (Adv Diploma) in University of Johannesburg will be considered eligible for the bursary. The bursary is going to cover the most important expenses like meals, tuition fees, monthly stipend, accommodation, and study materials. The successful students will get the support by their ISFAP campus program manager.

The Requirements

There are several general and basic requirements that all candidates must meet to qualify for this ISFAP Bursary program. The requirements include:

  • The candidates must be the citizens of South Africa – must be proven by a valid ID document
  • They must have completed Matric – they must have the certificate
  • They must have a good academic record or impressive academic performance or achievement
  • They must have been accepted at one of the mentioned tertiary institutions
  • They must have been accepted at one of the mentioned qualifications – this is for the first year undergraduate program study only
  • They must be able to show a proof of their family household income that is less than R600 000 a year

How to Apply

The only way to apply for the program is through online. Interested candidates can go to https://applyonline.isfap.co.za/pre-app. They need to complete the application form and then attach the supporting documents with it. Be advised that these documents are compulsory so if miss even a single item, then the application would not be considered.

The supporting documents are:

  • A certified copy of South African ID document
  • A certified copy of qualification or certificate
  • Completed consent form (ISFAP) in pdf format
