Job Description
The Heavy Duty Driver vacancy at Dr Kenneth Kaunda Government Garage is actually a re-advertisement and previous applicants who are still interested should re-apply. This job offers a level 4 salary which amounts to R 136 800 per annum. The successful incumbent will be stationed at Dr Kenneth Kaunda Government Garage situated in Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, North West. This position requires all candidates to be in possession of at least Abet or Grade 10 certificate accompanied by 5 to 10 year prior experience in heavy duty field. Add to that applicants must also have a valid unendorsed heavy duty driver’s license (EC or EC1). One with PDP for goods will be given a preference. In order to be qualified, one must have all the following skills and knowledge:
- Knowledge of inter alia transport circular no 4 of 2000 and transport policies as well as working procedures related to the working environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work long hours and under pressure
- People oriented
- Knowledge of customer care
The qualified applicant will be involved in, but not limited to the following key performance areas:
- Transporting state vehicles from and to all different merchants as well as collect those when and as they have been maintained or repaired
- Collect invoices and quotations from various merchants and provide help with puncture repairs
- Provide help with driving around and in town in case of distributing mail and other officials who brought vehicles for maintenance and repairs
- Provide help with finishing check list for loaned vehicles upon return and when being issued out
- Provide help during breakdown or accident recoveries
- Provide help during auction preparations
- Provide help with finishing logsheet returns as well as conveying vehicles to fitment centres to be maintained
- Make sure state owned vehicles are clean at all times
- Ensure checking license and roadworthiness discs should they haven’t been expired
- Comply with customer care
- Be posted in standby functions
- Conduct driving services which includes chauffer service to department’s or provincial clients
