Female’s position in the social setting is often disadvantageous, but it is about to change with the existence and creation of Department of Mineral Resources and Energy Bursary with female students as the main targets. The idea is to help female students achieve their dream to reach a higher level of study without them having to worry about their financial condition. The bursary is targeting potential and academically excellent female students in South Africa. They must have at least completed Grade 12 or the Matric. These students need to take the study subjects that are related to mining fields, covering study subjects such as:

- Geology
- Mining Engineering
- Electro-Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering or Chemical Processing
- Industrial Engineering
- Environmental Health and Management
- Electrical Engineering or Heavy Current
- Metallurgical Engineering or Extractive Engineering
The Requirements
All candidates must meet the standard requirements in order to qualify for this Department of Mineral Resources and Energy Bursary program. The requirements may include:
- The candidates must be the citizens of South Africa that will be proven through valid and legit ID document
- They must be within the range of studying age – at least 18 years old
- They must not have any criminal record
