Job Overview

- A complete apprenticeship and proof of passing official trade test under the provisions of Section 13(2)(h) of the Manpower Training Act, 1981), or
- Certificate issued under the provisions of Section 28 and 30 of the Manpower Training Act, 1981 as amended, or
- A certificate issued under the provisions of the repealed Section 27 of the Act referred to
Furthermore, having at least 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman is compulsory along with 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience. The Chief Artisan vacancy at Phekolong Hospital also requires all candidates to be in possession of a valid driver’s license, and an N3 certificate. No specific knowledge and skills are required for the job.
Key Performance Areas:
- Manage all aspects of technical design, technical services, operation, production and maintenance activities in the field, technical offices and workshops to ensure effective maintenance programs are in effect
- Render emergency power installations
- Be responsible for electrical distribution systems
- Be responsible for steam regulation systems
- Be responsible for clinical engineering services, machine room maintenance, gardening, oxygen and support as well as gas supply program
- Ensure cylinders and bulk oxygen are ordered in time
- Be responsible for woodwork, plumbing, AC, electrical, building, autoclave, boiler and mechanical maintenance
- be responsible for console, cooling ventilation, type air conditioning units and industrial systems
- manage contracts and projects
- represent institution on all engineering related conferences and meetings
- ensure that the division is managed in line with prescribed regulations and policies
- supervise resources
- manage administrative and related functions
- manage finance and people
- advance and maintain expertise
