Thuthuka Bursary Fund Programme Application

Students who have graduated Grade 12 or Matric and wanted to continue their education to a higher degree can think about taking part in Thuthuka Bursary program. The financial assistance program is designed to help students continue their study and gain a better future. Naturally, there are several requirements that all students need to meet if they want to take part in the program.

About the Program

Thuthuka Bursary Fund program is designed and made available to African and also colored students in South Africa. Students who are dreaming of becoming Chartered Accountants but struggling with the educational funds can make use of this bursary to reach their goal. Every year, more than 250 bursaries are given to BCom undergraduate Accounting degrees, with preferences are given to students coming from disadvantaged families and communities. The bursary is accredited by SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accounts).

  • The candidates must be the citizens of South Africa
  • They must have enough points so they can qualify for the university entrance
  • They are currently in Grade 12 with the intention to study in Accounting for a Bachelor of Commerce
  • They need to get at least 60% for their final Mathematics result for Grade 11
  • They have applied or in the process of applying to one of SAICA accredited universities

How to Apply

Candidates need to download the application form from SAICA website and then complete it. They need to send the application to this address: Thuthuka Bursary Fund, PO Box 59875, Kengray 2001. Besides the application form, they need to include the supporting documents like:

  • A recent ID photo or passport photo in color
  • A certified copy of ID document
  • A certified copy of guardian’s or parents ID
  • All the certified copies of Ids from all the people dependent on the family’s earning or income
  • Final Grade 11 and 12 results
  • The certified copies of guardian or parent’s salary advice or the affidavit
  • University provisional acceptance letter
  • Stamped letter from the school containing the confirmation of the registration and also the subjects taken

Moreover, candidates must answer these two questions in a different paper (and written manually):

  • The motivation to become a Chartered Accountant
  • The reason why they should be awarded the bursary

And they still need to include their personal short essay about themselves. In this essay, they must write about the details of their family and also life plans.
