SANZAF Zakah Bursary for South African Students

Western Cape residents who wish to pursue their tertiary qualification are now offered the opportunity to apply for the SANZAF Zakah bursary for South African students 2019. Foreign nationals are also welcome to apply if interested, provided you are on a study permit. Whether you are still in Matric or a current tertiary student, you are eligible to apply!

Bursary description

The SANZAF which is short for South African National Zakah Fund is a faith based, socio-welfare and educational organisation which collects as well as distributes Sadaqat and Zakah to help the muslim community. The organisation has been helping poor as well as needy families for more than 43 years, providing support for the upliftment and empowerment of the community.

This year, the organisation wishes to help students who lack financial means to pursue their undergraduate degree through the SANZAF Zakah bursary for South African students 2019. This award call will provide qualified students a grant to pay their tertiary studies.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified and invited to an interview. Note that, applicants will be required to settle their registration costs on their own.

Eligibility criteria

  • Candidates can be South African citizens or foreign nationals who hold a study permit
  • Must reside in Western Cape
  • Must have proven financial need
  • Must come from previously disadvantaged background
  • Must plan to study or be studying at a University or University of Technology in South African (Technikon is allowed as well)
  • Must fall within one of the three categories below:
  • Currently studying at a tertiary institution and were sponsored by SANZAF in the previous year
  • Currently studying at a tertiary institution and were supported by yourself or family member last year
  • Currently in matric
