Details

National Economic Education Trust or NEET for short, was founded in the early 1990s. this non-profit organisation serves as an education support system aims to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds and focuses on students who excel in Maths and Science.

This organisation started out with a government grant amounting to R 30 million. Not only does this organisation provide students with bursary awards but they also offer students with continued support during the course of their studies through online Student Management Portal, internships and job placements upon graduation. The National Economic Education Trust Bursary for South African students was initiated to support disadvantaged students to pursue their tertiary studies in the following fields of study:

  • Technology
  • Science
  • Agricultural Training and Development
  • Accounting

Aside from the financial support which is tenable for stationery and prescribed textbooks use, students will also receive continuous mentoring and monitoring to ensure that they will reach their full potential. The award is primarily centred on students wishing and seeking to study in the aforementioned areas or their closely related fields for these are the sectors where skills are lacking.

Kindly note that a fee contribution of R 120 (per month) is payable for capturing students’ information on the Student Management Portal.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this bursary program, applicants must satisfy all the following entry requirements below:

  • Must be a South African Citizen who has completed Matric
  • Must intend on studying or be studying as a full time student in one of the aforementioned field at any South African higher institution or University of Technology

Along with the mandatory application form, candidates must also attach the following important supporting documents. Failure in including all these materials will lead to your submission being disregarded by the selection committee.

  • Certified copy of ID document and matric certificate or final results
  • A passport size photo which should be attached to the first page on your application form
  • Proof of residence and proof of acceptance from a tertiary institution
  • Proof of income of parents/guardians (payslip or balance sheet for self-employed) [in the form of certified copies]

Please forward your application no later than October 31, 2018 (for new applications) and January 15, 2019 for renewal applications. All submissions received after these dates will not be taken into consideration. Therefore, it is your responsibility as an applicant to ensure a timeous application submission.
