Junior Fire Fighter for the Passionate Candidates

If you are always passionate about fighting fire and you want to dedicate yourself to save others, then Junior Fire Fighter career may seem like the best option for you. In most cases, all district municipalities are offering the opportunity for Junior professionals as well as Seniors. In general, the positions are open for 10 to 12 candidates.

About the Opportunity

The Junior Fire Fighter position with 11 post level the offered salary is around R 181 308 00,which is offered as the basic salary per year, not including the Municipal Employee benefits. It is possible that the vacancy is open for a number of candidates where each of them (or some of them) will be placed in four to five different stations.

The Requirements

There are some basic requirements that most candidates need to meet for this Junior Fire Fighter career program. These requirements are:

The candidates must be the citizens of South Africa that is proven by a valid and legal ID document

They must have completed Grade 12

They must not be afraid of small spaces (Claustrophobia) or afraid of heights

They must have good and impressive communication skills

They must be able and be willing to work in shifts and also work 6 days within a week

They must be able to standby within every shift

If they have past experienced in a reliable and established fire service before, it would be considered an added benefit

They must be at least in Fire Fighter 1

They must be computer literate – at least understand basic computer skill

They must already have First Aid and Hazmat Awareness Level 3 Certificate

They must have a valid and legal driver’s license with code-C1 for South Africa area

The Responsibilities and Tasks

Candidates who have been selected for the program will have their own responsibilities and tasks.  The general tasks that they need to deal with are:

They must perform firefighting operational duties and also rescue services under direct supervision

They must take part in fire prevention program and inspections

They must help with the inquiries and queries from the public as well as completing the call slips

They must maintain, care, test, and clean the workstation area and all the emergency vehicles on a daily basis

They must respond to rescue, firefighting, and also other emergencies

They must report dangerous and hazardous situations within the operational activities and period

They must follow and then execute orders at incidents that are within accordance with the safety procedures

They must help with the incident or accident scene cleaning up

They must maintain and man the Control Room when asked – and it includes performing basic administration jobs or duties

A certified copy of Matric certificate

A certified copy of a driver’s license

A covering letter that has been signed by each candidate
