Duties
Furthermore, working as general workers means that you will be dealing with these duties and responsibilities for the daily dose.
- Directing the traffic around hazards or work that took place on the road
- Setting out temporary road signs, barricades, and traffic cones at work sites
- Building or repairing the concrete kerbing
- Working on building or repairing storm water
- Clearing the earth channel
- Assisting the crane operators in pulling the concrete slabs
- Complete all activities in the inspection sheet
- Responding to citizens’ concerns and also complaints at the job site
- Performing manual labour instructed by the standard operating procedures
- Installing stormwater pipes and repairing road manholes when necessary
- Repairing potholes and footways
- Resurfacing tarred and/or gravel surfaces
- Deep patching and skin patching of the read including crack sealing, trimming trees, and road marking
- Loading and moving road materials
- Cutting road grade and clearing brushes and debris
Requirements
Moreover, some requirements are compulsory to fulfill by all applicants to make themselves qualify for the position.
- Having the Grade 10 or NQF equivalent qualifications is compulsory
- The applicants must have the minimum of 6 months of working experience in handling road construction maintenance and/or building machinery or equipment
