Details

The Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform, or often shortens as DRDAR is one of the departments of the South African government that is responsible for the implementation of progressive land reform, rural development as well as food security programs in South Africa. The department’s mission is to promote as well as support agrarian reform interventions and rural development which will help eliminate poverty by way of integrated food security programs along with job creation.

This year, the department wishes to help high achieving students who otherwise couldn’t attend a University without Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform Bursary 2019. This bursary is awarded for the following study programs:

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)
  • Vet technologist (BSc)
  • Bioresource Engineering (BSc)
  • Agricultural Engineering (BSc)
  • Agricultural Economics (BSc)
  • Agriculture (Entomology) (BSc)

Qualified incumbents may be required to take up employment for the Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform upon graduation. Note that, only shortlisted candidates that will receive correspondence for this purpose. Suitability criteria

Candidates must fulfill the following minimum entry requirements prior to applying for this program so as to ensure their applications will be taken into consideration during the selection process.

  • Candidates must be South African citizens who have completed Matric or are still in Matric
  • Candidates must have passed Physical Science and Maths in Matric
  • Candidates must plan to study or be studying in one of the above study programs
  • Candidates must be currently registered or have been provisionally accepted to study at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • Candidates with disabilities are welcome to apply
  • Previously disadvantaged students residing in the Eastern Cape will receive preference

Application Details

Commence your application for the Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform Bursary 2019 by completing an application form obtainable at any of the Rural Development an Agrarian Reform and Departmental offices.

Then, attach clear copies of the following supporting documents:

  • Certified copy of ID document, matric latest results (if still in matric) or matric certificate (if finished matric)
  • Proof of provisional admission or admission to study at a University/tertiary institute
  • Certified copies of parents/guardians’ ID document
  • Proof of income of parents/guardians (affidavit confirming family financial status)
