Salary: R 102 534 per annum

Duties

Porter:

  • Handling and transporting the patients efficiently and safely
  • Assisting the loading of patients for in and out of the ambulances or vehicles
  • Controlling the equipment effectively and regularly
  • Reporting any defects to trolleys or wheelchairs
  • Managing the Mortuary Services including corpses transportation from the wards to the mortuary
  • Entering the details in mortuary registry
  • Rendering the assistance for the nursing staffs related to patients’ transfer to beds or trolleys
  • Providing support to HR function

Driver:

  • Transporting the official passengers, packages, medications, post, equipment, and other goods
  • Making sure that the logbooks has been accurately completed
  • Delivering and collecting blood products from Worcester Blood Service
  • Conducting maintenance routinely
  • Cleaning the government vehicles
  • Conducting routine inspections related to vehicles
  • Reporting any defects related to vehicles
  • Relieving staff with the component when necessary
  • Rendering support for the supervisor
  • Performing administrative duties regularly when necessary
  • Responding to any emergencies

Requirements

Porter:

  • Having appropriate experience in porter service is an obligation
  • Having the competencies in basic reading, numerical, and writing skills is a must
  • Being able to work in shifts including public holidays and weekends
  • Being able to work standby
  • The applicants must be physically fit for lifting and transporting patients and other heavy equipment
  • Being able to handle corpses will be preferable
  • Having good interpersonal and communication skills is essential
  • The applicants must master two out of three languages in Western Cape
  • The applicants must provide proper knowledge of methods of safe infection prevention
  • Being able to work independently and under pressure will be a plus

Driver:

  • Having the valid code of C1 or EC (Code 10) driver’s license is compulsory
  • Having proper experience in transporting both personnel and goods
  • Providing valid Public Driving Permit (PDP) is necessary
  • Being able to work overtime and independently
  • Having the ability to perform the standby duties
  • Being able to communicate in the minimum of two out of three official languages used in Western Cape
  • The knowledge and skills related to routine, inspections, and maintenance of vehicles and safe driving are obligatory
  • Furthermore, it is important to have the knowledge of Transport Circular 4 of 2000 and road network
