The hiring department is looking for individuals with at least a Grade 10 qualification or a Junior Certificate/equivalent for the job. The open position also requires all candidates to have at least 3 years of relevant experience. Furthermore, having a valid code C1 (code 10) driving license with a professional driving permit (PDP) is also a necessary in order to be eligible for the Camp Maintenance Supervisor vacancy at the Department of Transport and Public Works.
Required skills and competencies:
- Sufficient knowledge of the carpentry, plumbing and paint work
- Sufficient knowledge of the building, maintenance and repair of roads
- Sound knowledge of the road camp erection, repairing as well as the replacement of pre-fab buildings
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work on their own and as a part of a team
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing form in two or three official languages governing the western cape
Job Duties:
- Be responsible for the replacement, erection and reparation to stores, houses and huts as the need arises
- Be responsible for collecting and transporting all sorts of materials and documentation around and from Oudtshoorn to outside camps or areas upon requests
- Be responsible for the repair, erection and maintenance of road traffic signs
- Be responsible for supporting Road Specialists on an ad-hoc basis in improving and maintaining road surfaces
- Be responsible for supervising, disciplining and providing training to team of workers
- Be responsible for assisting in ensuring that the Oudtshoorn Road Camp is kept tidy and neat
