Below are the specific information and requirements for each position available for the Artisan Foreman Grade A vacancies at Government Printing Works. Rubberstamp Production (ref. no GPW 18/62)
Qualifications: a minimum of grade 10 or its equivalent accompanied by a complete apprenticeship as well as passed trade test in Electronic Origination or Pre-press. It is expected that applicants have a five year post qualification experience. Should you be in possession of a grade 12 certificate then it would be a great bonus.
Required skills and competencies:
- Good understanding of printing process
- Ability to operate Coreldraw 15 as well as Adobe CS 6
- Excellent communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Excellent reading skills
- Good conscious
- Excellent knowledge of MS word and excel
Job duties:
- Oversee the rubberstamps production section
- Be responsible for creating quotations
- Be responsible for layout and design of stamps according to client specification
- Editing and proofing of copy for rubberstamps
- Consumables and stock management
- Manage and mentor junior artisans as well as support staff
- Liaising with clients

Graphic Design (ref. no GPW 18/63)
Qualifications: a minimum of grade 10 or its equivalent qualification accompanied by a completed apprenticeship with passed trade test in Pre-press/Electronic Origination. Candidates must also have at least five year post qualification experience. Should you have a grade 12 certificate then it would be a great bonus point.
Required skills and competencies:
- Computer literacy such as proficiency on Apple Mac with Adobe Creative Suite
- ability to take a project from brief to print including finished and concept art
- advanced typing skills
- knowledge of commercialised printing as well as its processes
- good communication skills
- creativity such as planning, problem solving and organising skills
- knowledge of CTP (mandatory)
Job duties:
- be responsible for managing quality of designs throughout all phases of a project
- be responsible for proofreading of jobs
- conduct scanning of jobs
- be responsible for printing of plates and impositioning of jobs
- manage and mentor artisan (designers)
- liaising with clients
