Position: Child and Youth Care Worker: Professional Servies

Salary:

  • Grade 1: R143 073 – R159 603 per annum, (OSD as prescribed)
  • Grade 2: R169 332 – R190 575 per annum, (OSD as prescribed)

Type: Permanent

Duties

Duties of the Child and Youth Care Worker in Department of Social Development includes receiving children and youth to the care facility after admission. 

Here are the complete list of your duties:

  • Engaging with the Child/Youth
  • Designing a Plan of Action based on assessments 
  • Implementing Developmental and Recreational Programs
  • Monitoring and evaluating the developmental and recreational programs
  • Providing referral to professional services such as appointment register, observation book, and occurrence book
  • Ecourage the participation of learners at the Facility in sport, recreation, arts and culture programmes and services
  • Continuous Professional Development
  • Perform administrative work and clerical functions as required.

First is the education and experience, you will need:

  • A Grade 12 qualification (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification) 

For Grade 1 of the position, there is no experience required.

However, Grade 2 requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in Child and Youth Care Work after obtaining the relevant qualification. 

It is recommended that you have a relevant qualification that let you sign up with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a registered Child and Youth 

Care Worker.
