Standard Bank Bursary for Undergraduate And Postgraduate Program

Applications are now invited for the Standard Bank Bursary for undergraduate and postgraduate program. There are bursaries will be awarded this year for deserving students who wish to pursue a degree in Maths, Engineering, Technology, Science or Commerce. Description

The Standard Bank Group provides various financial and banking services which also includes Private Banking, Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking and Investment Banking. As of today, the Standard Bank Group has 55,000 employees which are spread all over 20 countries in Africa. It is the largest banking group by assets in the entire African continent. The Standard Bank Bursary for undergraduate and postgraduate program was formed in honour of the banks 150th anniversary back in 2012. The bursary is administered by the StudyTrust and qualified students will receive full cost sponsorship which includes laptop computer, prescribed boos, study materials, meals, accommodation, a monthly stipend, transport and of course tuition fees.

There are two types of bursaries that are being awarded to successful candidates:

  • Undergraduate bursary

This award is reserved for students who are currently in their first year and are in need of financial help from their second year onward. The award will be awarded to the following fields:

  • Technology
  • Commerce
  • Science
  • Engineering
  • mathematics
  • Postgraduate bursary

This award is reserved for students who are pursuing a postgraduate program. The award is available for the following fields of study:

  • Engineering
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Commerce
  • Technology

Note that, prior to final selection it is mandatory that students undergo interviews as well as psychometric evaluation beforehand.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be considered for the bursary, applicants must meet all the following minimum entrance requirements. Failure in complying with all these criteria will result in your application not being considered.

  • Must be South African citizen
  • Completed matric

Undergraduate program:

  • Must be a full time student in their first year studying one of the above fields of study
  • Have a strong academic record
  • Achieved at least 65% average overall
  • Proven financial need
  • Preferably a student from one of these tertiary institutions: University of Pretoria, University of Cape Town, University of Johannesburg, University of Stellenbosch, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Witwatersrand, Rhodes University

Postgraduate program

  • Must be a full time student studying one of the above fields of study
  • Have a strong academic record
  • Achieved at least 65% average overall
  • Proven financial need
  • Preferably a student from one of these tertiary institutions: University of Pretoria, University of Cape Town, University of Johannesburg, University of Stellenbosch, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Witwatersrand, Rhodes University
