Position Details
The Security Officer position offers an attractive salary that is worth R 115 437 per annum. All interested candidates are required to hold a Grade 9 (Std 7) or a General Education and Training certificate in order to be eligible for the job. Furthermore, the following registrations are also an integral part of the requirements:
- Registration with a professional council, i.e. registration with the private Security Board of South Africa for 2006 regarding the Security Industry Regulations Act or (Act 56 of 2001) PSIRA
- At least Grade C PSIRA registration
Having working and appropriate experience in a health institution as a Security Officer is also required for the Security Officer vacancy at Groote Schuur Hospital.
Inherent requirements for the position
- Willingness to be available for 24 hours and work shifts
- Be in possession of a valid Code EB/B driver’s license
- Willingness to be set up in different sections of security department. This also includes the possibility of being situated in CCTV control room
- Verbal and written proficiency in English
- Proficiency in one or two of the official languages governing the Western Cape
- Sound knowledge of security related regulations, prescripts and procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with others or in a team as well as on their own
- Be diligent and be responsible
- Sufficient knowledge of the CCTV control room
Key performance areas
Working as a Security Officer at Groote Schuur Hospital entails the following duties:
- Be responsible for ensuring access control being exercised
- Be responsible for patrolling around buildings, perimeter fencing and parking areas
- Be responsible for controlling keys and parking lot
- Be responsible for writing statements and reports
- Be responsible for supervising outsource security officers
