Current matric or university students are welcomed and encouraged to apply for the Haw and Inglis bursary program for South African students. This award is open for students who intend to study or are currently studying towards a bachelor’s degree qualification in Civil or Building Industry. Further information is available below!

Description

Established in 1984, Haw and Inglis is a construction company in Western Cape, South Africa. However, it operates all across the country. Haw and Inglis specialises in complex construction projects such as building construction, road rehabilitation, road construction as well as road infrastructure. Each year, the Haw and Inglis bursary program for South African students is awarded to high achieving candidates with true potential. The program is awarded based on academic merit and if students meet the university or university of Technology requirements.

This bursary program is open to students who intend to study or are current students of the following undergraduate programs:

  • Civil engineering
  • Building
  • Mechanical engineering

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be considered for the bursary, candidates must meet all the following minimum entrance requirements prior to submitting their applications. Failure in complying with these requirements will result in your application being disqualified.

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be a current matric student or have completed matric
  • Intend on studying towards or currently studying one of the aforementioned undergraduate programs at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • Candidates who are still in matric must have achieved at least 60% or ‘C’ symbol for physical science and maths on the matric certificate
  • Candidates who are current university students must have a good academic record as well as have passed all previous modules or subjects

Furthermore, it is also mandatory that candidates possess these personal attributes:

  • Take initiative
  • Love the outdoors
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Interested in the civil industry and building construction
  • Willing as well as be able to work in rural areas

How to Apply

Candidates must download and fill out the application form thoroughly. Additionally. Applicants must also submit clear copies of the following documents. Any missing items will lead to your application not being considered for a bursary place.

Matric candidates:

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Colour ID photo. Please attach it to the application form
  • End of year results of Grade 11
  • Certified copy of driver’s or learner’s license (if applicable)
  • Matric September and June results
  • Matric end of year results (only if it’s already available)

University or University of Technology Applicants:

  • Full academic results for the duration of study
  • Certified copy of driver’s or learner’s license (only if applicable)
  • Colour ID photo which should be attached within the application form
  • Certified copy of ID document
