Aeronautical Engineering Bursary for Matric Students

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development and Environmental Affairs or EDTEA is honoured to offer the new Aeronautical Engineering bursary for Matric Students. This program is open for matric students who wish to pursue higher qualification at Wits University or University of Pretoria in the aforementioned field. Qualified students are allowed to renew the scholarship and this option is subject to students’ academic performance.

Bursary Description

The EDTEA department within the KwaZulu-Natal government is responsible for implementing as well as developing strategies to improve economic transformation in the province. The department also intend to provide assistance with the economic transformation and development, along with assisting with economic development and planning with leadership in order to establish a conducive environment worth investing in. The Aeronautical Engineering bursary for Matric Students to pursue undergraduate degree qualification in either Wits University or University of Pretoria. The awards are renewable every year and it will depend on the academic performance of the students. Qualified candidates will receive coverage for tuition costs, accommodation in residence, prescribed books, allowance as well as food.

Entry Criteria

Candidates must make sure they satisfy all the following minimum entry requirements below prior to submitting an application for failure in complying with these rules will lead to immediate disqualification.

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Must reside in the KwaZulu-Natal province
  • Must be from a disadvantaged background (students from rural areas will be given preference
  • Must be older than 15 and younger than 35 years of age
  • Must be currently in Matric and/or
  • Must have been accepted to study at the Wits University or University of Pretoria in the Aeronautical Engineering study program

You must also attach the following supporting documents along with the application form. Any missing items will result in your application being disregarded

  • Certified copy of birth certificate or ID document
  • Matric latest report
  • Grade 11 final report
  • Certified copies of ID Documents of your parents or guardians or death certificate if deceased
  • Proof of income of your parents or guardians in the form of latest payslips or bank statements if they are employed or affidavit if they are unemployed
  • Income and expense statement of your parents or guardians
  • Evidence of residence in KwaZulu-Natal which can be in the form of taxes, water or rates statement
  • Acceptance letter from Wits University or University of Pretoria
  • Letter of motivation outlining your need for this bursary and the reason why you deserve to be granted with one
  • Comprehensive outline of tuition costs required from your chosen institution
  • Study plan outlining how you will finish your qualification in the same amount of time of the bursary period
  • Copy of the course curriculum. Please include the number of years and subjects to finish the qualification
