- Matric plus 5 to 6 years of experience in communications, or
- Matric plus NQF level 6 in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations or Marketing with 2 to 3 years of experience

Once you are qualified for the Senior Communication Officer vacancy at Department of E-Government, below are some of the duties you will be involved in:
- Be responsible for coordinating activities such as directed by the Communication Manager for launches, events, promotions and any other communication related activities
- Be responsible for gathering intelligence within the organisation to facilitate effective communication through posters as well as the newsletter
- Be responsible for coordinating the execution of themes and format for the Internal Newsletter and other internal communications
- Be responsible for compiling content for the newsletter to be edited by the editor
- Be responsible for identifying contents and themes for the newsletter
- Be responsible for cultivating relationships with internal clients so as to ensure fulfilment of their communication needs
- Be responsible for compiling a database of external and internal stakeholders
- Be responsible for maintaining an image bank of key stakeholders for media as well as other related purposes
- Be responsible for managing digital contents
- Be responsible for collecting, researching and writing articles for the newsletter for the Communications Manager’s approval
- Be responsible for ensuring the professional execution of launches, events and promotions in line with a stipulated check list is adhered to
- Be responsible for providing intelligence that contributes to the functioning of the Communications unit
- Be responsible for maintaining informal and formal relationships with external and internal stakeholders
- Be responsible for optimising the organisation’s digital medium as a communication tool
