Transnet Learnership Requirements

All of the candidates are expected to meet the basic and general requirements for this Transnet Learnership programme. Here are some of the basic requirements for the programme:

  • The candidates must be the citizens of South Africa that can be proven through the valid and legit ID document
  • They must be between the age of 18 and 35 years old
  • They must at least complete Matric or Grade 12
  • They must have Matric certificate
  • They must not have any criminal records
  • They must have the passion and determination to work hard

School of Engineering

Transnet School of Engineering offers learning opportunities for South Africans with a Grade 12 qualification with or wothout work experience. They also offer apprenticeship programme with conduct vocational training in 14 trades.

Transnet Bursaries

Transnet offer bursaries for full-time study in many fields such as Computer, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Electronic,
Mechanical, Metallurgy, Electro-mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying and Environmental Management. Transnet Bursaries requires Grade 12 certificate with bright achievements, must be healthy, and has a minimum five symbol of Mathematics and Physical Science.

Transnet Maritime School of Excellence

The Maritime School of Excellence was built to provide the main skills for Transnet Port Terminals and Transnet National Ports Authority.

Young Professional-InTraining Programme

Young Professional-in-Training (YPT) programme is a graduate programme that develop
learners who have completed technical as well as non-technical tertiary qualifications, by
providing relevant work experience, leading them to become competent professionals
within Transnet. YPT programme duration is about 24 month.

Engineer-in-Training Programme

The Engineer-in-Training programme (EIT) provides experiential learning for graduates with a degree in Engineering, to assist them in gaining sufficient experience to be deployed within Transnet. The programme consists of defined segments – formal, theoretical and on-the-job –which are necessary to meet the training needs of the graduates. The training lasts
for 24 months. It is divided into four-six months evaluation period.

Technician-in-Training Programme

The Technician-in-Training programme (TIT) offers experiential learning for learners or students with a diploma in Engineering, to assist them in getting comprehensive experience to be deployed within Transnet. The programme consists of defined segments – formal, theoretical and on-the-jobtraining which are necessary to meet the training needs of TIT. The training lasts for 18 months, divided into three-six month evaluation period.

How to Apply

Application will take place online. Candidates must log into the official site and create a personal account. They need to change the personal details, change password and user name, create the job alerts, and search for the vacant positions – as well as applying for the positions. Basically, everything will take place online. But make sure that the candidates would have to be registered as the applicant.

The candidates who have previously joined Transnet programs or who have worked as Transnet employees will not need to do any registration again. They can send the ID No or old SAP No so that their login parameter can be changed or updated. They can send it to [email protected] so the worker responsible for the update can change the information.

The company is always on a look-out for potential candidates who have the right tenacity, proficiency, and also passion in the industry. The deadline is unclear. That’s why interested candidates are expected to visit the official site so that they can learn the details of the programme.

All of these documents must not be later than 3 months. If they have been older, then the candidates must update those documents.
