South African Nursery Association (SANA) Bursary

South African students who wish to pursue their tertiary studies in the field of Horticulture are now invited to apply for the South African Nursery Association (SANA) bursary 2019. However, should you be interested in the field of Landscaping and Agriculture, then you are still eligible for this call as well.

Details

The South African Nursery Association was founded in 1947. It is a non-profit organisation whose main goal is to represent the interests of the nursery or green industry. The organisation is now also representing the following related associations: Garden Centre Association (GCA), Allied, Bulb & Seed Trade Association (ABSTA) and Bedding Plant Growers Association (BPGA). Some of the key objectives of SANA also include: depicting a professional image of the Horticultural industry in the country; establishing a national communication channel with other Nursery businesses; and keeping in contact with the Government departments in terms of issues relevant to the environmental and industry matters.

This year, South African Nursery Association (SANA) bursary 2019 are offered for all South African citizens who are interested in pursuing a degree in the field of Horticulture. Those who wish to pursue their tertiary education in Landscaping and Agriculture are also welcome to apply.

Candidates will be invited to attend a selection interview in March 2019.

Eligibility requirements

In order to be fully entitled to this opportunity, interested applicants must make sure they fulfil all these requirements below prior to submitting an application. Failure in complying with all of these requirements will result in your application being disqualified.

  • Candidates must be South African citizens who have completed matric
  • Candidates must be studying towards a Horticulture qualification
  • Candidates must have passed as well as completed at least three first year subjects
  • Must have achieved at least 60% per subject
  • Must have achieved and maintain at least overall average 60%
  • Landscaping and agriculture candidates may also apply provided they have finished their first year of study as well as have achieved at least result of 60% per subject

Your application must also include the following supporting materials. The submission of these documents is compulsory and failure in attaching all of these materials will result in your application being disregarded.

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Full academic results record on a tertiary letterhead
  • November or October academic results
  • Tertiary institution’s banking details
  • A completed students membership form
  • Proof of 2019 registration on a tertiary letterhead
  • A motivation letter no more than 150 words (for landscaping and agriculture students)
