Job Overview

Incumbent will earn a level 7 salary amounting to R 242 475 per annum. The position is situated in Pretoria and to be eligible for this vacant position, candidates must be in possession of at least a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification. This educational qualification must be accompanied by 3 to 5 years of working experience in the control room operations or security environment, Grade B PSIRA accredited certificate, National Key Point certificate, and a Firearm competency certificate. Candidates must have a valid code 8 driver’s license as well.

Should you be in possession of a national diploma or equivalent qualification in security management or relevant fields, it would serve as an added advantage.

The Shift Leader (Security) vacancy at Government Printing Works requires candidates to have the following knowledge and skills:

  • Knowledge of: Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993); National Key Points Act, 1980; MISS (Minimum Information Security Standards) and MPSS (Minimum Physical Security Standards); Criminal Procedures Act, 1977 (Act 51 of 1977); Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act, 1985 (Act 53 of 1985); Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act 60 of 2000),

The successful incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Implementing security operational procedures, policies and standing instructions
  • Supervision of security officers (outsourced and in-house)
  • Monitoring the extent of compliance or adherence with security procedural measures
  • Evaluation and development of the effectiveness of such procedural security measures
  • Reporting and investigating any security breaches to the 29 SMT
  • Identifying health, security and safety threats and risks during their shift and reporting to the SMT
  • Reporting any security system faults or defects
  • Helping with the unit to render the security awareness
  • Supervision of the security monitoring and surveillance duties at the control room during shift
  • Making sure that the security patrol are conducted to all GPW premises
  • Enforcing exit and access security control measures at all GPW premises
  • Making sure the availability and entries of security registers are concise and eligible
