SAPS has a vacancy for entry level Police Trainees for all races and genders to join their team. They will join the Basic Police Development Learning Programme (BPDLP) and follow the training programme there.
The BPDLP programme which will further be called as the Programme, has 21 month duration with three phases, which are:
- Induction Phase: 1 month training at the designated police station
- Basic Training Phase: 8 months of basic and practical training at a designated SAPS academy
- Probation Phase: appointed as a member of the Service under probation with the duration of 12 months

Salary: R4500 per month (Institution Phase) / R186 483 (Probation Phase) with benefits that consist of training gear, meals and accommodation

Type: Permanent (successful candidates will serve as Police Trainee on contract)
Duties
The duties of Police Trainee who have successfully finished SAPS Traineeship 2022 are as follow:
- Prevent, combat, and investigate crime
- Maintain public order
- Protect and secure the inhabitants of the Republic and their property
- Uphold and enforce the law
Eligibility and Requirements
The requirements for applicants to be eligible to apply for a position are as follow:
- South African citizen
- Have a Senior / National / Vocational Certificate with the documentary proof
- Proficient at least in English and one other official language
- Between 18 – under 30 years old on the closing date of the advertisement
- Have no previous criminal convictions and shall allow his / her fingerprints to be taken and for background inquiries to be made
- No tattoo marks that’s visible
- Be prepared to take oath of office, serve anywhere in the Republic of South Africa also undergo training by National Commissioner
- Undergo and pass a medical examination, physical fitness assessment, also psychological and integrity assessment
The points below are additional advantages:
- An aggregate of 4 and above in English in the final Senior Certificate examination and fully completed 3 year National Diploma / Degree recorded on NLRD with at least NQF 6 or higher value.
- At least valid vehicle drivers’ license
