Duties

Your main duty will be related to the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act No. 53 of 1985)
- Checking the identification of employees, visitors, and contractors before entering the premises
- Keeping records of employees, visitors, and contractors
- Conducting an electronic search towards the employees, visitors, and contractors
- Giving authorization of entry into employees, visitors and contractors after processing
- Informing visits with the hosts
- Escorting guests and visitors into the premises
- Issuing admission control cards to visitors and receiving it after the visit ends
- Checking objects before they are brought in to the premises to ensure safety
Next, you will have the Patrol Duties, this includes:
- Patrolling buildings and fenced-off areas
- Guard vehicles and equipment in the field – ONLY from a security point of view.
You will also be responsible to:
- Check and maintain all security equipment and facilities
- Informing senior security personnel when problem occurs
Eligibility and Requirements

- Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Learner Record Database on NQF level 4

- You must be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA)
- You must have at least a Grade C security certificate
- You must be declared fit to possess a firearm
- Having a valid driver’s license for at least a light motor vehicle is not required, but will make you a preferred candidate
