South African matric and university students are now welcomed to apply for the Richards Bay Coal Terminal Bursary Program. Description

Richards Bay Coal Terminal is located in the Richards Bay harbour. This coal export terminal was established in 1976 and as one of the world class terminals, it provides Coal Exporting Parties in SA with logistics service that help with the coal export. It is, in fact, the largest coal export facility in the entire Africa along with being one of the top coal export terminals all around the world. Today, it has 6 berths with annual cargo of 91 million tons and covers an area of 276 hectares. This year students are awarded with the opportunity to apply for the Richards Bay Coal Terminal Bursary Program. This funding is open to students who are still in Matric or University students. The bursary is available for the following field of studies:

  • Accounting (Bachelor of Commerce)
  • Electrical Engineering (National Diploma and Bachelor of Science
  • Mechanical Engineering (National Diploma and Bachelor of Science
  • Education with major subjects in Maths and Physical Science (Bachelor of Education)

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be considered for the bursary, applicants must meet all the following minimum entrance requirements.

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Must be in Matric or have completed Matric
  • Must intend on studying or currently studying as a full time student in one of the aforementioned subjects at a recognised South African tertiary institute
  • Must have excellent academic record
  • Must have proven financial need
  • Students who reside in the Uthungulu Distric Municaplity areas (King Cetshwayo District Municipality) will be given preference

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted no later than September 28, 2018. No late not incomplete application will be taken into account.

Please include the following important documents as well:

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Certified copy of grade 11 final results and mid-year results for current matric applicants
  • Certified copy of matric certificate or final results for applicants who have completed matric
  • Certified copy of latest tertiary academic results for current university students
  • Certified copies of parents or guardians’ ID documents
  • Proof of registration or application at a recognised university or college if available
  • A brief CV with contact detail that shouldn’t exceed one page
  • Proof of income of parents or guardians such as affidavit if unemployed or latest payslips if employed
