Overview
The kwaZulu-Natal Department of Human Settlements intends to provide suitable housing to the residents over the next five years by way of the National housing subsidy. Furthermore, the department also wishes to help high achieving students in the residence who otherwise couldn’t fund their studies without sponsorship or scholarship. Therefore, through the bursary program, the department will be awarding bursaries in the following study programs:
- Financial management
- Supply chain management
- Housing (bachelor of social science)
- Property management / real estate
- Project management
- Construction management
- Quantity surveying
- Civil engineering
Suitability criteria
Candidates must satisfy all of these minimum requirements before submitting an application for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Human Settlements bursary 2019.
- Candidates must be between 18 and 35 years of age and of South African national
- Candidates must reside in the KwaZulu-Natal province
- Candidates must come from a previously disadvantaged background or from a vulnerable group
- Candidates must have good academic record
- Candidates must have completed matric or currently in matric
- Candidates must intend on studying or currently studying in one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Candidates must have been accepted or provisionally accepted or have a CAO application receipt to study at a recognised South African tertiary institution
Application procedure
To apply for the program, you must submit the following documents within your application:
- An application form
- Certified copy of ID document, grade 11 final results and matric certificate
- Outline of your study curriculum
- A motivation letter in support of the bursary application which should explains why you deserve the bursary
- An acceptance letter or registration letter from your tertiary institute
- Breakdown of tuition costs from tertiary institute
- Certified copies of ID documents of parents/guardians
- Proof of income of parents/guardians such as latest payslips, bank statement, proof of unemployment, proof of SASSA grant or death certificate
- Expense statement from parents/guardians
- Proof of residence in the form of a letter from councillor/local leadership or utility bill and SAPS affidavit
