Code 14 Driver Vacancies at Wasteplan, Durban, KZN

Wasteplan, a leading waste management company, is seeking a dedicated and responsible Code 14 Driver to join our team in the Durban area. The successful candidate must be willing to work day or night shifts as per a shift roster.

Job Summary: As a Code 14 Driver at Wasteplan, you will play a crucial role in collecting recycling and general waste material safely and efficiently at designated locations within a set timeframe. Your attention to detail, commitment to safety, and adherence to driving regulations will contribute to the success of our waste management operations.

Primary Duties:

• Load and unload goods from vehicles efficiently and safely.
• Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle.
• Refuel and clean vehicles as required.
• Utilize navigation apps to determine the best driving routes.
• Plan driving routes in advance to ensure the most expedient trips.
• Conduct daily checks on equipment and vehicles.
• Remove machine attachments and waste material from machines.
• Inspect trucks and complete the daily vehicle checklist before departure, reporting any issues to Transport Controllers.
• Drive safely and follow all driving laws and rules to maintain a safe work environment.
• Assist runners by loading and unloading material at collection points.
• Count all bags loaded onto the vehicle.
• Collect, organize, and maintain all necessary paperwork and submit it to the appropriate personnel after each collection.
• Report and document any accidents or vehicle issues to Transport Controllers.
• Adhere to all reasonable instructions given by Transport Controllers.
• Follow OHS ACT legislation and site regulations.
• Keep driver’s license up to date.

Secondary Duties:

• Assist with adhoc client requests.
• Provide support for administrative duties when required.
• Help with sorting and other general duties if necessary.

Requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 1 – 2 years of working experience in a similar role.
• Valid Code 14 driver’s license and a valid PDP.
• Relevant qualifications, experience, knowledge, and skills.
• Clean driving record.
