A Preschool Assistant Teacher plays a crucial role in the early childhood education system, contributing to the growth and development of young children during their formative years. The primary responsibility of a Preschool Assistant Teacher is to support the lead teacher in creating a positive and enriching learning environment for preschool-aged children, typically between the ages of 3 and 5 years old.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Care:
   • Assist in implementing a curriculum that focuses on play-based learning, promoting the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of children.
   • Provide individualized attention to each child, recognizing and addressing their unique needs.
2. Safety and Environment:
   • Ensure a safe and hygienic environment for children, including maintaining cleanliness and implementing safety protocols.
   • Create an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, exploration, and creativity.
3. Collaboration:
   • Work closely with the lead teacher and other staff members to plan and execute educational activities.
   • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a cohesive and positive team environment.
4. Flexibility:
   • Be flexible in working with children of different age groups, adapting teaching methods to meet the developmental needs of each child.
5. Communication:
   • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with both children and parents.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the Preschool Assistant Teacher position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

• ECD NQF level 4 or higher, or currently studying towards a childcare qualification
• Experience working with children between 4 months and 5 years of age
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Experience with preschool-aged children
• Clear criminal record
• Reside in close proximity to the school
• First Aid certification (preferred)
• Vaccination certificate (preferred)
