Thandulwazi Intern-Teacher Training Programme
Are you interested in a career as a teacher? If yes, the Thandulwazi Intern-Teacher Training Programme, an initiative of the Thandulwazi Trust and St Stithians College, is offering prospective teachers an opportunity to study towards a 4-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or a 2-year Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) through long-distance learning with a public tertiary institution while gaining workplace experience at St Stithians College. This position will be available from January 2024.
Successful candidates will be mentored by experienced educators and will have exposure to valuable professional training and work experience within an IEB school environment. Additionally, you will qualify for one or more of the following benefits, depending on your financial needs analysis:
- Payment of tuition fees and a textbook allowance
- Daily meal allowance
- Workshop/conference allowance
- A monthly stipend
Preference will be given to aspiring teachers who meet the following criteria:
- Passionate about studying part-time towards a 4-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Foundation and Intermediate Phase, Intermediate and Senior Phase, Senior and FET Phase, and a 2-year PGCE.
- Majoring in Mathematics, Sciences, Accounting, English, and African Languages.
- Either a grade 12 with Bachelor’s pass and has been admitted by a tertiary institution, already studying towards a teaching qualification with a tertiary institution, currently in Grade 12 and aspiring to study towards a teaching qualification, or has completed the undergraduate degree and aspiring to register for PGCE.
- South African citizens.
