- You will be tasked with quality and integrity control of data from large national surveys, this will be done through real-time monitoring.
- Monitoring fieldworker performance, by tracking dashboards and other analytical outputs/tools.
- Monitoring performance of individual data collectors.
- Checking data submitted by individual data collectors daily and ensuring all data has been successfully uploaded to the HSRC server.
- Monitor integrity and completeness of collected data.
- Monitor field team progress using GIS and GPS.
- Monitor survey progression, i.e., data accrual vs projected.
- Ensure quality work by following processes, procedures, and steps outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure Manual
- Prepare and submit daily reports.
- Monitor fields, sample logging in sheets against database entries.
- Monitor laboratory databases/results against field databases and follow-up on data queries.

- You need NQF 7 – Degree or equivalent
- Quantitative Degree (Geography, Maths, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Sciences, and Economics) or other degree with extensive quantitative data management, and data processing
- M & E experience (2 to 5 years).
- You must have experience in data collection processes, including data collection, data capturing, and field supervision.
- You should be experienced in working with electronic data collection methods (use of cellphones, tablets, laptops etc.)
Next, the following skills and knowledge are required for this HSRC Vacancies: Data Monitoring Officer:
- You must be proficient in computing, this includes:
- Operating Micro-soft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Skill to work with data management software (SQL, MySQL, RedCaP, CSPro, etc.) is not required but will be an added advantage
- Able to create data visualization, using various tools such as– Excel, Power BI, etc.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Skill to create numeric and narrative reports.
- Great communication skills, ability to read, write and understand English.
- Able to participate in group or teamwork.
- Showing commitment to completing the task.
