This Agriculture Graduate Programme will provide a space for unemployed agriculture graduates who want to experience working in entrepreneurial projects related to agriculture, forestry and fisheries, as you will be able to earn skills and knowledge as well as exposure to real jobs. 

In this programme you will be participating in: 

  • Conducting a CROP Farm Assist, this includes the process of planting, maintaining, harvesting, washing and storing produce.
  • Supporting the harvesting process in all farm and greenhouse areas through implementing sustainable harvest practices.
  • Managing the land, plants and environment by committing to the sustainability and well-being of the project and the people involved.
  • Observing the irrigation system for farms and greenhouses, and forwarding information to the Manager when a problem occurs.
  • Supporting the production planning and scheduling process for all areas of farm and greenhouse.
  • Observing the growing condition in farms and greenhouses and creating an assessment. 
  • Developing and discussing innovative strategies for farm management, especially those which can be applied to intensive small-acreage farming.

  • Grade 12 plus Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) or 
  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Agriculture as recognized by SAQA.

  • Must be unemployed
  • Must never be appointed in the public service
  • Unemployed graduates from colleges of agriculture will be prioritized 

The Department of Agriculture has a target for this Agriculture Graduate Programme candidates ratio: a minimum of 50% must be women and 60% must be youth (18-35 years).
