Every year, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (also famously referred to as Deloitte) awards bursaries for deserving and high achieving South African students. This financial support aims to help students earn their degree qualification. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited was established in 1845, in London, UK. This UK-incorporated company is the largest professional services network that exists across the globe (according to the number of revenue and professionals employed). As a matter of fact, Deloitte falls within the category of the world’s “Big Four” accounting firms.

The company provides tax, consulting, assurance, audit, financial risk advisory as well as enterprise risk services. It now has over 260,000 professionals employed at member firms which are spread across the globe. As of today, the company operates in over 150 countries and territories. In South Africa, the firm operates as “Deloitte & Touche”.

The firm is pleased to award bursaries to outstanding students each year. This year, the Deloitte bursary program for South African students 2019 is open for applications. The awards will be granted to learners who are studying towards a SAICA accredited Chartered Accountancy stream degree qualification. Whether you wish to pursue your postgraduate or undergraduate degree, you are welcome to submit your application for this program.

The bursary will provide the following benefits: tuition fee coverage, accommodation as well as prescribed books (to a capped amount).

Upon completion of their studies, students will also be required to take up a three year trainership program that will take place at the company.

Are You Eligible?

Before submitting an application, you must make sure that you meet the following minimum requirements. Failure to fulfil these criteria will lead to your application being disregarded.

  • Must be a Namibian or South African citizen
  • Must be a current matric student or have finished matric
  • Must completed Maths in matric (not mathematical literacy)
  • Must intend on studying or be currently studying towards a CA-stream postgraduate or undergraduate qualification at a SAICA accredited higher educational institution
  • Must wish to pursue a professional career in the Chartered Accountancy profession
  • Must meet the academic requirements for taking an accounting major
  • Candidates who are in their second or first year of study must have achieved at least overall average of 70%. Those who are in their third year of study must have achieved at least overall average of 65%
  • Must have completed at least four subjects in their previous academic year of study

Candidates must also provide the following clear copies when lodging an application:

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Matric certificate if already completed matric or matric latest results if still in matric
  • Current tertiary students must include their latest tertiary academic record
  • A motivation letter
